Medicare rebates are available through the Chronic Disease Management Plan, and details of this plan can be discussed with your GP. Better Start for Children with Disability Initiative

This initiative supports children with a number of different conditions, which are outlined here

 

A treatment and management plan can be prepared by a GP, specialist or consultant physician. Children may be eligible for a rebate for up to 4 sessions of Occupational Therapy assessment, as well as up to 20 sessions of Occupational Therapy intervention. These are the total number of services available to the child through this program, as it is not an annual entitlement.

Helping Children with Autism Program

The support given through the Helping Children with Autism Program is for children undergoing a diagnosis, assessment or treatment for autism or any other pervasive developmental disorder (PDD).

This plan can be organised with your paediatrician or psychiatrist. Children may be eligible for a rebate for up to 4 sessions of Occupational Therapy assessment, as well as up to 20 sessions of Occupational Therapy intervention.
